De VU heeft Marjan Olfers benoemd tot bijzonder hoogleraar Sport en Recht aan de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid.

Olfers wordt per 1 mei 2012 benoemd als bijzonder hoogleraar vanwege de Stichting Wetenschappelijk onderzoek Sport en Recht. Het doel van de stichting is om juridisch wetenschappelijk onderzoek op het gebied van sport te bevorderen en juridische kennis op dit gebied optimaal te benutten. Deze leerstoel werd eerder bekleed door Heiko van Staveren tot aan zijn emeritaat in 2007.

Olfers is universitair docent Sport en recht aan de Faculteit der Rechtsgeleerdheid en doceert het vak Juridische aspecten van de sport aan de Faculteit der Bewegingswetenschappen.
